On 20 September 2010 Feel was awarded an Outstanding Achievement in the category of Health/Nutrition by the Interactive Media Awards™ for its Donate Don’t Waste Website (http://donatedontwaste.com.au) – a site dedicated to breaking down myths and misconceptions about becoming a sperm donor in Australia.

The award winning “Donate don’t waste” website is the first of its kind and was developed in collaboration with interactive agency Feel Creative to combat the severe shortage in Australian sperm donors.

Dr Anne Clark, Medical Director of Fertility First, said, “since the websites inception in June 2010, three donors have completed all the requirements and have started donating. This is a great start given that Fertility First had only been able to recruit two new donors since June 2007 using conventional advertising methods.”

Dr Clark went to on say, “Over the past few years the number of “official” Australian sperm donors has rapidly declined from over 100 to less than 30, largely due to changes to the law governing anonymity. To add three new donors to our books in as many months is a fantastic milestone.”

The Donate Don’t Waste website was established specifically to:

  • Explain why sperm donors are needed and outlines the benefits of becoming a donor;
  • Outline and simplifies the donation process;
  • Clear up any misconceptions regarding the social and legal implications of becoming a donor;
  • Educate men in an entertaining manner with regard to the simple lifestyle choices that can help to maximise their fertility.
